Owl hats are a real HOOT!
"Whooo" doesn't love these? I've been seeing them on infants and toddlers everywhere and of course, my kiddies AND my friends' kiddies had to have one of these too!
This was actually the project that inspired me to learn how to crochet. Because I am visual learner, I found youtube to be the most helpful in learning various stitches, abbreviations, and how to follow crochet patterns. I chose a simple pattern I found online and put my newly learned skill to the test. I was surprised at how quickly these adorable hats worked up!
After playing around with different patterns, I discovered that I preferred the look of the "square" hat as the ears of the owl looked a lot cuter when worn. I made my own patterns that featured combinations of different colours and experimented with different stitch combinations. They were such a hit that one year the only thing I made for all of our friends' kids for Christmas was owl hats!
