Birdcage veil with blooming flower.

Usually when I am working on custom orders, it's for the happiest of occasions - a hair piece for an excited bride, or a headband for a newborn baby. This time, however, I was asked to make a hair piece to honour the memory of a grandmother, which she would wear as she was laid down to rest. This hair piece was to match a white burial gown and my instructions were clear; a large blooming flower, a touch of pearls, attached to a birdcage veil. 

For this hair piece, I first made a chin-length birdcage veil. I added a large (4" wide) white satin flower with tiny pearl twigs, pearly seed beads, and glass seed beads in the centre. A couple of feathers gives a whimsical touch. Attached to a silver metal comb.
